Forged Percussion empowers musicians and strengthens our local community through private music instruction, school partnerships, and professional creative services. We equip artists and educators with the tools to learn, create, and excel.

Forged Percussion is a locally owned music education and creative service studio dedicated to supporting musicians, educators, and local artists throughout Leon and Wakulla Counties. Through private percussion instruction, in-school partnerships, and professional recording and media services, we provide the tools and guidance artists need to grow with confidence. Whether you're a student developing your craft, a band program seeking support, or a local artist ready to capture your sound, Forged Percussion exists to help you learn, create, and thrive.

We offer recording in the studio, or we can travel to you!

Lessons are versatile and revolve around the short- and long-term goals we establish during your first free lesson. Study one style, or explore many!

Forged Percussion is owned and operated by Alyssa Coleman. See her About info below!

Alyssa Coleman

Owner & Educator

Greetings! I’m a dedicated music performer, advocate, and percussion pedagogue in Tallahassee, Florida. I perform with the Northwest Florida and Panama City Symphonies, and various other music ensembles in my community. Over the last 5 years, I’ve grown a private lesson academy for percussionists from both Leon and Wakulla Counties under my LLC, Forged Percussion. Lessons are now conducted at our new office in the Railroad Square Arts District! I also serve as the percussion specialist at Lincoln High School, and visit other local schools regularly.

I’ve had the privilege of consulting for young band directors at several youth pedagogy presentations like the Florida Band Director’s Workshop, and serving as a clinician in seasonal youth programs like Penny’s Marching Arts and Training Camp! I enjoy presenting masterclasses on percussion studies, gear maintenance, and student leadership in schools across the Big Bend area.

I earned my B.A. in Percussion Performance at Florida State University, performing in the award-winning FSU Percussion Ensemble, FSU Wind Orchestra, and the Philharmonia and University Symphony Orchestras. With the guidance of wonderful musicians like FSU’s Distinguished Teaching Professor of Percussion, John W. Parks IV, I have accrued 7 years of experience as a performer and educator. I look forward to learning how I can serve your musical interests!
